- First melons
by Jim
Today, in Princeton, I will bring the first cantaloupe of the season to market. I will also have blueberries, raspberries, fresh garlic, new potatoes, kohlrabi, broccoli, zucchini, cucumbers, green beans, cabbage, snow peas, dill, Plow Creek Bakery goods, and the first few little tomatoes of the season

- Strawberry season is over
by Jim
We picked three flats of strawberries today. I expect that is a record for us for late strawberries. But there are no more worth picking and we are declaring strawberry season over. Blueberry picking is now reaching its peak. The next couple weeks should be the best blueberry picking time.

- Blueberries, strawberries, and more
by Jim
This Saturday we will have lots of blueberries, what might be the last strawberries of the season, a few black raspberries, new potatoes, sugar snap and snow peas, herbs, kohlrabi, maybe a little rhubarb, and a good variety of Plow Creek Bakery goods. We have lowered the price for blueberries: 2 pints for $11 or 6 pints for $30.

- Blueberry U-pick opens Saturday
by Jim
Blueberry U-pick will open Saturday morning at 7:00. Most rows are not fully ripe, but there are some berries ready in lots of rows. If you aren’t among the first to arrive, you may have to pick over a number of bushes to get what you want, but there are pretty good quantities available. Please read how to pick blueberries before coming.

- Blueberry season is here
by Jim
We picked 56 pints of blueberries today which we plan to bring to Princeton tomorrow, Saturday. The storm chased us in - there were a few more pints to pick. With the heat more blueberries will ripen soon, so I expect we will have plenty also on Tuesday and we may be able to open up for u-pick in about a week.

- Blueberries soon
by Jim
As we were weeding the blueberries today, we found an occasional ripe berry. Very good! We might well have enough for me to bring a few half-pints to Princeton market on Saturday. It looks like it will be a great blueberry year, with many branches bending way down under the weight of the berries even though they mostly haven’t reached full size yet. I expect it will still be another two weeks before we will open for u-pick.

- Little green berries
by Jim
Yesterday I saw my first strawberries and blueberries of the year. They are small and green, but growing. I’d estimate our first strawberries for sale at either the June 2 or June 6 Princeton Farmers’ Market, with the first blueberries available about two weeks later.

- Blackberries more plentiful
by Jim
It won’t be a fantastic blackberry year, but they are fairly plentiful now, and they are big and delicious. We plan to be open for picking Wednesday and Saturday. You may pick the declining blueberries on the same trip.

- Blueberries very slow
by Jim
A good turn out today picked most of the blueberries that were ready to pick. We have changed the picking schedule to be closed tomorrow, Thursday. There should be some, but not many, available Saturday.
Blueberry picking will now be self-serve. That means there may be no one available to show you the best place to pick — you will have to look. “Seek and you shall find,” is an appropriate quotation. If you pick on a bush, please pick it clean, but you may skip around rather than follow flags as we usually do.

- Rain cancels Saturday picking
by Jim
Blueberry picking is closed today. Another 2 1/2 inches of rain this morning has made the road too muddy. Expect great picking Monday.

- Rain closes Thursday picking
by Jim
We just had 2 inches of rain in about a half hour, making Blueberry Hill road a real mess. We have closed the blueberry picking until Saturday. We expect the road to be fine by then.
