approximate season:

This Saturday in Princeton will be our last market for the year, although a few venders plan on coming next week. We have a few red raspberries left, plus chestnuts, lots of green peppers, potatoes, salad greens, squash and pumpkins. And of course, our Plow Creek Bakery goodies. Remember, you can order Bakery goods when we are not at market by emailing bakery@plowcreek.org.

Red raspberries have finally arrived in good quantity. You may pick them up Blueberry Hill and by the yellow Raspberry Shed by our Market Barn. Yesterday we picked over 600 watermelon: traditional red with seeds, red seedless, and small sweet yellow watermelons. Great for your Labor Day picnic. Both watermelon and raspberries will be available in good quantity at the Princeton and Peoria Farmers’ markets.

Saturday morning, raspberries will be plentiful at the Princeton Farmer’s Market, Peoria Riverfront Market and Sterling Market. At Princeton and Peoria, you can also find a good supply of watermelon, green beans and eggplant. Tomatoes and herbs will be available to the early shoppers.

We picked the red raspberries fairly thoroughly for market on Friday, and they are ripening slower in this cloudy weather, so there will not be lots of berries to pick on Saturday. You may find several pints, but not large quantities for jam or freezing. Plenty should ripen by Monday.

Fall Red Raspberry season is underway, and you can find a good supply at Valley Flowers in Spring Valley Thursday from 8AM to 2PM. Sweet Corn, Tomatoes, Muskmelon, Bread, Cookies and Watermelon (5 varieties) will also be on display.

Back at the farm, Raspberry U-Pick will be open Thursday from 8AM to 8PM.

Come find your Plow Creek Produce safely sheltered under our new tent Thursday morning at Valley Flowers in Spring Valley from 8AM to 2PM, rain or shine.  You can find blueberries, red raspberries, tomatoes (cherry and full size), cantaloupe, onions, potatoes, garlic, kale, cucumbers, zucchini, and green and yellow wax beans. We will also have Plow Creek Bakery goods.

Sorry, we are between plantings of sweet corn, but expect more next week.

It’s beginning to look a lot like summer here at Plow Creek Farm. Stop by Valley Flowers in Spring Valley Thursday 8:30AM - 1PM to select your favorite colors and flavors: Blueberries, Red Raspberries, Blackberries, Sweet Corn, Cherry Tomatoes, Cantaloupe, Green Beans, Peas, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Lettuce, Potatoes, Garlic, Herbs and lots of other veggies. Plus, Bread and Cookies from Plow Creek Bakery.

We picked some sweet corn for Monday lunch. Delicious! I will be bringing a small load of sweet corn to Princeton Farmer’s Market Tuesday. Market opens at 8:30. I will also have blueberries, blackberries, red raspberries, cherry tomatoes, muskmelon, fresh garlic, green beans and other vegetables, and Plow Creek Bakery goodies.

Thursday morning marks our first supply of red raspberries to Valley Flowers in Spring Valley. We will have a moderate supply of them (probably enough to last a couple hours), along with an ample supply of blueberries. Bok Choy, peas, salad greens, herbs and maybe even some garlic will also be on display. Which month is it? We farmers feel like it must be at least midsummer.

A good supply of Red Raspberries will be available at the Princeton Farmer’s market on Tuesday June 26th. They join the blueberries, peas, bok choy, chard, kale, lettuce, radishes, beets, green onions, herbs and green bell peppers. This lineup will also visit Spring Valley Thursday morning.

A small amount of red raspberries may be available for U-Pick during blueberry u-pick sessions, but picking is still scattered and during this early season we will hold most of our raspberries for market and CSA.

Last night’s freeze finished the raspberries for the season. We are now also closing the Market Barn. We will still have greens, peppers, squash, and root vegetables at Saturday’s Farmers’ Market.

Most of our raspberries survived the recent freeze and are still available by U-Pick (weekly schedule posted above). They are also available pre-picked by order or at the Princeton Farmers’ Market on Saturday.
