News & Views:  Wyoming (Uncategorized)

Here we will provide a list of what we plan to sell on the next market day at the Stark County Farmer’s Market in Wyoming. This is typically reported in the afternoon or evening before market day.
We may occasionally post some other information about the market here too.

We have no plans to sell in Wyoming in 2009. I plan to post it here and on our News Page if we decide to sell in Wyoming.

Earlier this week, we had announced a visit to the Thursday evening Farmer’s Market in Wyoming. Sadly, this will not be possible, as we are just too understaffed and worn out right now for the additional harvest, prep and staffing. I (Kevin) came down with a cold yesterday and no longer have the stamina to be out marketing until 9PM after being up since the 5:15AM strawberry picking. No one else is available to run the market. The early blueberry season has been a hardship as it arrived 3 weeks before the month-long staffers who were recruited largely to pick and sell blueberries. To make matters worse, five of our teen helpers are on vacation for a week.

The good news is that from yesterday afternoon until tomorrow afternoon, we have 6 helpers from Reba Place in Evanston. They heard our distress call and came to volunteer their time for picking and weeding. It was perfect timing; I really don’t know how we would have met this week’s market schedule and picking quota without them, and there is now light at the end of the tunnel in weeding the newly planted strawberries.

We now have an abundance of red slicing tomatoes, orange blossom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and roma/plum tomatoes. Find them Thursday morning at Valley Flowers in Spring Valley, Thursday evening in Wyoming or any day at our Market Barn at the farm.

Look for a mid-summer selection Thursday morning (8:30-2) at Valley Flowers in Spring Valley and Thursday evening (4-7PM) in Wyoming. Blueberries, blackberries, sweet corn, muskmelon/cantaloupe, cherry and plum tomatoes, green and yellow beans, green pepper, cucumber, zucchini, onions and more. Spring Valley will also include bread and cookies from Plow Creek Bakery

Look for Plow Creek blueberries, peas, onions and other veggies at Valley Flowers in Spring Valley Thursday morning 8:30-12:30 and at the Stark County Farmers’ market in Wyoming Thursday evening 4PM-7PM. There may be a final small supply of strawberries at Spring Valley as well
