Fall red raspberries on the bush

July red raspberries on the bush

Red raspberries ready to pick

A sad thing about fall red raspberries is that they are still full of beautiful berries when the autumn cold weather destroys the fruit.  We try to keep them an extra few days or weeks by irrigating on cold nights.  Here is what it looked like Thurday morning, October 2, 2003.

These raspberries survived because of the ice

Science note: Freezing water is exothermic. Each gram of water that freezes releases about 80 calories of heat.

Plow Creek Farm is a great place to pick your own blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Save money while getting high quality, naturally grown berries at optimal ripeness.

See the U-Pick page for more explanation, Raspberry News for schedule and field reports, or the Location page to find us.
