OUR FARM FAMILY
Neil Horning will be managing the
farm this year at Plow Creek. He had extensive
farming experience before coming to
Plow Creek. He has worked at
AgriEnergy
Resources, where there is commitment to producing healthy
crops by maintaining balanced nutrients and healthy life in the
soil.
With Neil as manager we will continue our efforts to give
you the finest food from Plow Creek. His wife, Tutuk, and children, Phillip and Timmy, also do lots of farm work during the summer.
Jim Foxvog established this web site, works
on the farm full time during the summer, and part time during the
school year, when he also home-school's his
two sons. Meg Foxvog, his wife, also
works on the farm most of the year. Daniel and Samuel Foxvog help mostly with berries during the summer.
Kevin Behrens redesigned the
website in May 2006 and will soon be busy running U-Picks and markets.
Lorie Behrens will be taking care of phone orders. Kora Behrens helps keep us all happy.
Erin Kindy cultivates our vegetable garden
with tender loving care.
Meghan
Reha, on break from college, rejoins the farm staff for the summer of 2006. She will run U-Picks and Market displays.
David Gale handles much of the accounting and other paperwork. He expresses loving care
in practical ways, often repairing, cleaning or offering logistical support.
Richard Friesen and Ruth Anne Friesen
have lead in our strawberry and blueberry U-Pick
operations, and put out our
newsletter and
advertising. We miss them, as they are now doing
mission work in Argentina.

FARMER
TO FARMER
Jim Fitz,
former head berry farmer at Plow Creek, spends several months in
Colombia each year with Christian Peacemaker
Teams. Their presence protected farmers in rural areas accessible
mainly by motorized canoes on the Magdalena River and its tributaries.
These farmers and fishermen are often terrorized, kidnapped or
assassinated by the three armed groups operating in this area— the
Colombian armed
forces, the paramilitaries allied with the government and the
guerrillas.
With CPT co-workers, Jim helped arrange a friendly
soccer game between folks under the thumb of rival armed groups— the
first contact they had been
able to enjoy in 20 years.
