Melinda Grimes was baptized and joined Plow Creek Church on May 14, 2006.

baptismal wate, salt, angel, and flowrers

Although we usually immerse, Melinda chose baptism by pouring.
An ancient symbol, a taste of salt, is given at baptism.
Melinda is a collector of angel figures.

Melinda asked that I share her letter to Plow Creek on this page:

May 14, 2006

Dear Plow Creek folks,

I just wanted to tell you a little about my background and why I have decided to become a member and be baptized here at your church and fellowship.

I was in therapy with Mark and he invited me to come out so I was back and forth for probably the past 14 years. In the meantime I became friends with Margaret and she and Mark always encouraged me to keep coming back. But I was a very broken person and just never took God too seriously.

But back last Fall, something happened to me and I started to like myself and life. For the first time I didn’t want to die. Then in September I started back to church and never left. What I didn’t realize was how God was working in my life. Each Sunday morning I kept feeling closer and closer to God, and kept feeling better and better. I started realizing this is where I belong, where God wants me to be. Sharing my life with you folks is the closest to any family I’ve ever had and I want to thank you all for accepting me, understanding and caring. I care for all of you and I want to be part of your lives. So that’s why I want to be a member. I am so grateful God has put you all in my life. I am looking forward to serving the Lord. I can now officially be called a “Creeker”.

love, Melinda
