Matthew, Christiana and Neva came to Plow Creek in May 2009 from Washington DC where Matthew worked at a nonprofit that helped low income residents save for education, homeownership, and to start businesses. Before Neva was born, Christiana was writing and working at a florist in Maryland. Matthew grew up in Missouri and Christiana was raised in Austin, Texas. They both went to Abilene Christian University in Texas but met half a dozen years later through mutual friends. They married in October 2007 and had Neva almost exactly one year later.

Matthew and Christiana both became interested in Christian intentional community through their time abroad. Matthew served in the Peace Corps in West Africa for two years and Christiana studied theology and creative writing in Scotland for four years. When their daughter was born, they decided to pursue intentional community and found Plow Creek.

Matthew is on the farm team and helps manage the farm's u-pick operation as well as doing other general farm work. Christiana writes poetry, fiction and essays and stays home with Neva. She has started a blog about their life here at Plow Creek: andonthisfarmtherewasa.blogspot.com

Matthew and Christiana joined Plow Creek Mennonite Church in January 2010.
