Princeton Peace Vigil
Princeton, Illinois
Princeton Peace Vigil

The Princeton Peace Vigil started in January 2002 by members of Plow Creek community in response to the US attack on Afghanistan.  We stand outside the Bureau County Courthouse each Wednesday from 11:30 to 12:30 prayerfully holding signs for peace.  The vigil organizers come from a Christian pacifist perspective, but others who oppose the current wars are welcome to join us.  Or if you support war, come and talk with us.

When we started we had many express opposition to us.  By 2007 we had a lot more supportive honks than upraised middle fingers.  But we have had occassion to literally "bless those who curse you." (Luke 6.28)

Come join us.  Bring your own peaceful non-political, non-hostile sign, or use one of ours.

The Illinois Valley Voice has an article about the vigil with more pictures here:  Christians Protest for Peace in Princeton
